Blueberry Coffee Cake (aka Boy Bait)
Jenn Segal of Once Upon a Chef created this fantastic coffee cake with a “habit-forming effect on boys.” I’ve made this recipe dozens of times, both as a cake and as muffins. Tips: Take your time working the butter into the brown sugar mix so it incorporates completely. Also use room temperature blueberries. Dorothy Kern’s small cheesecakes from Crazy for Crust pack a powerful punch! We put the blueberries inside the cheesecake rather than as a topping, but you can do both. Bring a napkin because these are amazingly buttery. Get the recipe
Chicken with Blueberry Sauce
Cooking and Beer blogger Justine Sulia came up with a wonderful blueberry sauce to pour over chicken. We used boneless, skinless chicken breasts instead of frying chicken thighs and substituted maple syrup for honey. It’s a different concept to put sweet blueberry sauce on savory chicken, but it was just like cranberry sauce on turkey. Get the recipe
